Krazy News

What an amazing first year!
22 Dec 2019

From all the team at Krazy Races (not many of us - Sarah the Krazy person who dreamed up all this, her husband - who helps out when he can and we call him "The Intern" and we have the lovely Kellie who helps with our social media and PR... oh and the two cats!), we would all like to say a big thank you for the amazing year we have had.

We never dreamt that we would be so well received by all of you and we are so very grateful to all of you.  This has been an amazing first year - we had the idea back in 2018 and launched Shrewsbury Wacky Races in the September of that year.  We had no idea that so many of you would not only want to come and support the event but also race in it!  We had some lovely sponsors, 36 Krazy teams, 17,000 super hungry people came to watch and you helped raise well over £20,000 for many local charities.

And on top of that we have been recognised local and nationally for the event we produced.  We were amazed to be shortlisted as a finalist for best new business by Shropshire Chamber of Commerce and then we were shortlisted as best new festival and medium sized festival by Festival Awards UK.  However we were hugely honoured, surprised and over the moon to not only be shortlisted but actually win the prestigious NOEA award for Best New Event of the Year in the UK!  (Have we mentioned that yet!!!?). We even put up a new shelf in the office to give the award pride of place!

So with all of that behind us, we have a big year ahead in 2020 and can't wait to share it with you all.  We will be brining you three Krazy Races events next year - Shrewsbury on the 24th May, Northwich on the 14th June and one we need to keep a secret till the end of January - shhhh.

Shrewsbury was amazing this year and we have been so fortunate to have some amazing sponsors and businesses help us make next year bigger and better.  We have created a page on our website thanking all of those that are involved in Shrewsbury next year:

Shrewsbury will also see some changes, extra entertainment and more things to see and do around the event... MORE LOOS! More Food, Drink & Craft vendors, and some exciting elements added to the track.  We will be updating you all in the new year with all the excitement.

Northwich is slightly different and very exciting as we are going to be racing down a road!  We have been working in partnership with Northwich Town Council to make this a great Krazy event for the town.  We have had an amazing welcoming response from the town and know this is going to be a very Krazy addition to the calendar of activities and events on offer in Northwich.

And then we have some very exciting news to share with you in the New Year about another Krazy Races we are going to be bringing to you in October next year!  We can't say anything yet as we need to pass one more meeting before we get the full go-ahead (fingers crossed everyone).

So we think that is plenty for next year, we would love to do more and have been asked to bring the event to Devon, Kent and Scotland! But we really need to grow the team to achieve any more events.  But isn't it all very exciting!?

Here is to 2020 - hope you all have a Happy Christmas and a lovely New Year - Stay Safe, Happy and Krazy!
