Totally Stockport Krazy Races Soap-box derby off to a flying start!
15 Jul 2022

Totally Stockport Krazy Races, the free to attend soapbox derby coming to town on Sunday 28th May next year, was launched at Stockport Makers market less than a week ago and has already taken Stockport by storm.

The free to attend event promises to bring all manner of races, wild and zany to towns & cities across the U.K and beyond while raising thousands for local charities. So far this year over 50 business and individual teams have built, designed and raced their soapboxes in front of crowds of thousands in both Shropshire and Northwich.

Since launching Totally Stockport Krazy Races last week; (the event being named after headline sponsor Totally Stockport BID), Sarah Belcher Events limited  the company bringing the event to Stockport have reported over 10 team entries and over 1,000 people registering their interest on the official Totally Stockport Krazy Races event page.

Danny Scoffin, Head of Marketing for Krazy Races said:

“We have been blown away by the early enthusiasm of this event, since launching last Saturday our social media has gone ‘KRAZY’ with businesses, charities and teams expressing an interest to be involved. To have a quarter of our 40 teams in the first week is a phenomenal achievement and we would like to thank our headline sponsors Totally Stockport for all their amazing support helping us get the word out.

This event brings together the whole town and it gives businesses a great platform to show off their fantastic business while raising money for incredible local causes while having a team building day out they will never forget.”

The race route will be through St Peter's Square, down into Mersey square past the iconic Plaza building, where racers will have to navigate a sharp right toward Stockport's famous Air Raid Shelters. The event route will be made up of chicanes, obstacles and more with racers expected to be cheered on by over 15,000 locals.

As well as fantastic races, Krazy Races are looking to work with local sponsors and businesses to bring together local entertainers, food stalls and more to give families a fantastic day to remember.

Organisers are looking for between 20-40 teams to enter the race in a knockout style competition with multiple trophies.

Teams and spectators are encouraged to raise as much money as possible for charity and later this year the event will announce its official Totally Stockport Krazy Races headline charity.

Applications for teams are open and organisers are encouraging you to enter as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
