Stockport Krazy Races Search for 2023 HEADLINE Charity
22 Sep 2022

Krazy Races, the popular, free to attend national soapbox derby which is coming to Stockport on Sunday 28th May has today launched the search for its headline charity partner for Totally Stockport Krazy Races.

Krazy Races has taken the U.K by storm this year with nearly 50,000 people coming out to support the free to attend  events when they visited Shropshire, Cheshire and Wolverhampton City Centre. Krazy Races sees local teams made up of friends and businesses build and race weird & wacky soapboxes through the centre of Towns & cities while raising money for local charities.

Since its creation back in 2018, the event has raised over £40,000 for local charities and good causes. Every team who enters a soapbox raises money for a local charity close to their heart with the event backing a headline charity partner who has a big presence on and leading up to the day.

In 2022, Krazy Races partnered with national charity Macmillan Cancer Support for all its Summer events. The partnership allowed the charity to collect and receive funds through several revenue streams including; car park donations, event brochure money as well as hundreds of pounds through cake sales and raffles. The final total for the year for Macmillan and other local charities is over £30,000. For Totally Stockport Krazy Races, the team have decided to ask the charities from Stockport to come forward and contact event organisers before a consultation period will take place followed by a public vote.

The partnership will run from Thursday 3rd November until two weeks after Totally Stockport Krazy Races finishes on the 28th May 2023. This will give one local charity the chance to raise money and awareness at the ‘Kraziest’ event in town!

As part of the partnership, the selected charity will be given the opportunity to fundraise at the Krazy Races scrutineer event which takes place between 2-4 weeks before the main Soapbox event on Sunday 28th May 2023. The selected charity  will also feature on the Krazy Races website with a go fund me link set up for the event. As well as the Krazy Races social media channels.

We work closely with our headline charity partner to help integrate them into the heart of the event, giving them as many opportunities as we can  to raise as much as possible! This is our first time asking the public to recommend and vote for a local charity that they are passionate about and we are excited to meet and work with the eventual winner.”
