Birmingham & Sandwell

Birmingham & Sandwell will get a little wackier next year as Krazy Races comes to town
on Sunday 10th July. Krazy Races is a free to attend event, aiming to bring all manner of
races, wild and zany to towns & cities across the U.K and beyond in the form of a
traditional SoapBox Derby. As well as Birmingham & Sandwell, The Krazy Races team
have today announced events happening in Northwich Cheshire, Shrewsbury and
Wolverhampton on Sunday 21st August.
Birmingham & Sandwell Krazy Races is the first event of its kind to be held in the City.
The event will be held at Sandwell Valley Country Park. Birmingham & Sandwell Krazy
Races will see Sarah Belcher Events company supporting Birmingham Children’s
Hospital Charity.
Thousands of spectators are expected from all over the City and beyond to cheer on the
weird, wacky and wonderful SoapBox entrants who can enjoy watching carefully crafted
karts being hurtled down a track which will consist of chicanes, obstacles, water features
and more.
Applications for teams to enter have opened today with event organisers looking for
40-60 teams to enter the race in a knockout style competition with trophies going to
‘fastest winner’, ‘best dressed’, ‘most innovative design’ and more.
Sarah Belcher, Founder of Krazy Races said:
“After a challenging couple of years for everyone, we are delighted to be bringing some
much needed laughs and joy to the great people of Sandwell & Birmingham! There will
be more fun than you can imagine, Krazy entertainment and lots of ‘wow, did they really
just do that!?’
We are over the moon to be supporting the fantastic Birmingham Children’s Hospital
Charity. This event is sure to capture the imaginations of the community and business in

the area and together we can create a spectacular, unique and different event for the
Miranda Williams, Head of Public Fundraising at Birmingham Children’s Hospital Charity,
said: “We’re so thankful to be chosen as the charity partner for the Birmingham and
Sandwell race. We treat over 90,000 sick kids at our hospital every year, the majority of
whom are from the local area, so we’ll be excited to see the teams come together to
support our vital service. This is such a fun event for us to be involved with and we can’t
wait to see the imaginative, ‘krazy’ designs people come up with.”
Applications open today to enter a team in the 2022 Birmingham & Sandwell Krazy
